Installation guidelines: review before your installation takes place
The Subcontractors and NWI Team make every effort to treat your property with respect. These guidelines are for your reference.

-
touch up painting may be required after installation -responsibility of the customer
-
installers will not move small breakables
-
installers will not unhook or hook up any electronics (ie. computers, sound systems)
-
installers accept no responsibility for cracked or broken baseboards
-
proper maintenance products must be used to maintain warranty (see cleaning instructions on www.nuwestinteriors.com)
-
felt pads need to be installed under all furniture when hardwood, laminate, cork or sheet vinyl is installed
-
area rugs/mats may discolour floors
-
if closet or room doors need to be cut down because of new flooring this is the responsibility of the customer: please inquire if you require this service
-
new flooring may be a different height, therefore baseboards may be lower than they were, requiring walls to be touched up- responsibility of the customer

Carpet
-
new concrete must cure for 28 days before installation
-
there will be an extra charge for removal & disposal of material
-
removal of flooring on stairs if applicable is extra
-
existing smooth edge can remain if being replaced with new carpet
-
labour is extra for installation on stairs, pie shaped and/or spindles
-
extra labour may be required on patterns or borders in the carpet

Hardwood
-
hardwood will not be installed on stringers- need 1/4” veneer stained to floor colour
-
labour on stairs is extra
-
removal & disposal of materials is an additional charge
-
humidity for wood should be maintained at 40%
-
radiant heat is acceptable if maintained within manufacturers specified range
-
solid hardwood should not be installed below grade or on concrete
-
wood floor colours may vary slightly as wood matures- exotic woods can be more dramatic
-
wood is a natural product & is not uniform in colour, some grades have more variance
-
is recommended to run boards perpendicular to floor joists
-
labour is extra for patterns, bordering or if extensive cutting is required
-
patterns & bordering require extra material for waste
-
a moulding may be required at the base of the risers on stairs
-
all railings require a bottom plate for installation
-
steps can not have rounded fronts or rounded nosing
-
wood needs to be left approx 1/4’ away from any vertical surface (wall, islands, etc)
-
touchups on baseboards is the client responsibility

Laminate, Cork
-
laminate will not be installed on stringers- 1/4” veneer is required stained to floor colour
-
extra labour is required on stairs
-
removal & disposal of material is an additional charge
-
humidity for product is to be maintained at 40%
-
below grade or on concrete requires pad with a moisture barrier
-
radiant heat is acceptable if temperature is kept within Manufactures specified range
-
T-Mouldings will be required on long runs for an expansion joint
-
recommended to run boards perpendicular to floor joists
-
labour is extra for patterns, bordering or extensive cutting
-
a moulding may be required at the base of toe kicks if applicable
-
stair nose will be required for each step if applicable
-
a moulding may be required at the base of the riser
-
railings require a bottom plate
-
steps can not have rounded fronts or rounded nosing

Sheet Vinyl, LVT, LVP
-
floor may have to be levelled or smoothed out with patch
-
if there is only one layer of existing vinyl, it can be embossed & new lino installed
-
any old flooring containing Abestos will not be removed by the Installer
-
extra charge for removal and disposal of old material
-
if subfloor is being removed that has been glued and nailed, it will be charged out by the hour
-
new concrete is required to cure for 28 days
-
stair nose will be required where applicable
-
installers will not disconnect or re-connect any electrical or plumbing
-
labour is extra for pattern & may require extra material

Tile
-
access to running water required for tile installation
-
toilets need to be removed and necessary plumbing managed: responsibility of the customer
-
wet saw location, mortar mixing allocated (ie. heated garage)
-
full access to the renovation space
-
ensure any sealers, if required are applied accordingly
-
no access on tile for 24 hours
-
no showering 48 hours following installation
-
If Nuwest is installing measurements will be required, if you have chosen a contractor please ensure they have specified product ordering
-
electrician may be required if in floor heat has been chosen
